We had a wonderful time visiting Battle Harbour, Labrador July 17-18 2009. When we arrived we had heard from some of the other visitors that the whales were feeding on capelin and herring very close to the shoreline. We were lucky that we got to see some of the whales in action!
On Saturday in mid afternoon by the cove, we stood on the solid rocks by the sea. We watched as the humpbacks circled the cove and took deep breaths, dove down and then came back up again with their mouths wide open feasting on the little fish. This video shows you some of the humpbacks that came within 5 feet of us by the cove.

Thank you for sharing these. Brought back happy memories of the year I spent in Hopedale, Labrador. But I never saw whales up this close. You have been blessed.
Excellent video, excellent tourist destination and excellent performance of the whales and the dog, that did not want to lose its prominence.
Thanks to Natalie’s father said in his blog that your valuable work. Congratulations for Natalie and Shaun!!!
